Vanessa has done many crafts through-out her career, she mainly specializes in dyeing and distressing as well as other craft forms.

Laura Robinson, Vanessa's primary academic advisor, is known for her tailoring. One of the courses Penn State graduate students take is a tailoring class, in which students make a custom three-piece suit from scratch for a fit model. This is the first suit Vanessa has patterned and constructed -- hopefully one of many.
